Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology & Science (SGSITS) was established in 1952 in Indore Madhya Pradesh as a public institution in a sprawling area of 36 acres in a serene sylvan atmosphere to create experts in science & technology related to society for its augmented socio-economic growth in the industrial environment by imparting education. This institution was established by Shri Govindram Seksaria at the request of then PM of India Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. It was given autonomous status by the AICTE and UGC in 1989 and was affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya (University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh) Bhopal.

Capital Expenditure

SGSITS spent Rs. 7.42 crores as capital expenditure in 2021, of which a modest 9.44% spent on procuring books, journals, and e-resources for the library, a considerable 37.82% spent on buying new equipment and software for quality research, merely 0.74% spent on engineering workshops, and the remaining 52% spent on the creation of capital assets. In 2020, the capital expenditure was Rs. 9.8 crores and it was around Rs. 6.04 crores in 2019.

Operational Expenditure

SGSITS spent over Rs. 51.6 crores in 2021 as operational expenditure, of which a massive 89.48% spent on paying salaries to professors and supporting staff, 6.36% spent on maintaining academic infrastructure, and the remaining 4.16% spent on Seminars/Workshops/Conferences. Spending as operational expenditures were Rs. 45.17 crores in 2020 and Rs. 39.3 crores in 2019. The spending as the operational expenditure has been increased in 2021 when compared to the last two years.

As SGSITS has good faculties and scholars, good infrastructure, and a conducive atmosphere, it was able to file 9, 2, and 1 patent applications in 2021, 2020, and 2019, respectively, however, it was able to get 1 patent in 2021.

Sponsored Projects

As SGSITS has some distinguished professors and research scholars at its faculty, many big companies are willing to sponsor this institution, and therefore, it received Rs. 4.82, Rs. 3.36, and Rs. 1.17 crores through 25, 22, and 15 sponsored research projects from 16, 13, and 10 companies in 2021, 2020, and 2019, respectively.

At SGSITS, a considerable number of 800 students got admission to UG degree courses and a significant 87.25% of them graduated, of whom 85.13% got placements at top companies, and 207 were selected for higher studies in 2021; a bulky 86.34% of students graduated, of whom 70.99% got placements and 115 were selected for higher studies in 2020; and a considerable 78.85% of students graduated, of whom 83.77% got placements and 109 were selected for higher studies in 2019.

As SGSITS is in Indore, one of the important cities in Madhya Pradesh, therefore it has both a railway station and an airport. How to Get Admission at SGSITS

For UG Course: Candidates who passed the +2 exam or any other equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects and one from Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects/Computer Science/Information Technology/Informatics Practices/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/Business Studies need to take JEE (Main) and get a required rank/score to get admission to the UG courses, and the admission process is conducted in three rounds, Round 1, Round 2, and college-level counseling, and this admission is through by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Bhopal.

For PG Course:  Candidates who passed the degree course in the respective stream with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/MBC (excluding creamy layer)) need to take GATE and should get a required rank/score to get admission to the PG course. However, if seats remain vacant after filling GATE-qualified candidates, then the remaining seats are filled based on performance in the entrance test and/or simultaneously with the counseling based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying exams, and admission is given through DTE, Bhopal. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC (excluding the creamy layer) are given as per the rules of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Fee Structure at SGSITS

The student needs to pay approximately Rs. 3.7 lakhs as total fees for the UG course at SGSITS, however, the saving grace is they can get a good salary of Rs. 5.2 LPA at top companies, so they get back this amount in a year.
