Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering Pune (BVUCOE Pune) was established by Dr. Patangrao Kadam in Pune Maharashtra in 1983 to bring out intellectual awakening of people through the spread of education and to prepare human resources needed for all-round development, particularly the economy of the country. However, its predecessor, Bharati Vidyapeeth was established in 1964 at Pune street. The motivation behind the establishment of this institution was to give an education to downtrodden people whom he saw left behind in competitive exams like National Defence Academy, Civil Service, etc. In 1996, it was awarded a deemed university status for its excellence in education and administration. Presently, it has 29 constituent institutions, including three research institutes dedicated exclusively to research.
