Banasthali Vidyapith was started in 1935 in a mud house with 6 girl students as Shri Shantabai Siksha Kutir in the memory of Shri Shantabai who was the daughter of the founder late Shri Hiralal Shastri. It is located in Banasthali near Jaipur, Rajasthan in an area of 850 acres with a serene atmosphere. In 1943, undergraduate courses were introduced at this institution, and eventually, this institution got its name changed to Banasthali Vidyapith. However, it was granted a deemed university status in 1983, and it got its first student, Prof. Sushila Vyas, as the first director of this institution. Besides this, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited it with five stars. This is the first institution in India to provide education to girl students from pre-school to Ph.D. research studies.
