Army Institute of Technology (AIT) proposed by Gen. B. C. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, ADC then Chief of Army Staff of Indian Army (COAS) was established in 1994 and inaugurated in 1995 by Gen. S. Roy Chaudhary PVSM, ADC at Dighi Hills Pune Maharashtra in a sprawling area of 30 acres in a perfect placid atmosphere to provide technical education to the children of Army Personnel in all the ranks who are in disadvantaged positions in education as the Army Personnel serving on the border and other difficult terrains and constant movement of army personnel are causing hard to pursue education at the engineering college. It is functioning under the armor of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) and it has the senior-most officer in the Indian Army, the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army (COAS) as the President of the Board of Governors, and it is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (formerly Pune University), whose courses are approved by the AICTE accredited by the NAAC.

How to Get Admission at AIT Pune

For UG courses at AIT: Candidate should be either a ward of Servicing Personnel, war widows, wards of personnel who are serving/have served only in DSC/Assam Rifle/BSF, or Retired Army Personnel who served at least 10 years in the armed forces, and he/she should be a citizen of India or person of Indian origin who should get Indian citizenship before he/she applies and he/she should have a specified age limit as per instruction in JEE Main, and he/she who passed or appeared in the +2 exam or any equivalent exams with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects along with any one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology or vocational subjects with at least 50% marks in these subjects all together need to take JEE Main and should get a required score/rank to get admission to the UG course at this Institution.

For PG courses: Candidates who fulfilled the above general criteria with a UG degree in Mechanical Engineering (Design Engineering) need to take the GATE exam and should have at least a non-zero GATE score to get admission to the PG course.
