The National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) was established in 2010 by an act of parliament (NIT act 2007) and it was declared as Institute of National Importance. NIT Goa is an autonomous institute functioning under the control of the Ministry of Education (MoE) Government of India. Presently, it is functioning temporarily at Goa Engineering College located at Farmagudi, Ponda southeast of Panaji, the capital of Goa in a charming serene atmosphere.

In 2020, the capital expenditure was Rs. 1.5 crores and it was around Rs. 3.4 crores in 2019. The spending as capital expenditure has been increased in 2021 compared to the last two years.

NIT Goa spent over Rs. 20 crores in 2021 as operational expenditure, of which a considerable 55.26% of its funds spent on paying salaries to professors and supporting staff, 44.68% of its funds spent on maintaining academic infrastructures, and the remaining 0.06% spent on conducting Seminars, Conferences, and Workshops. Spending as an operational expenditure was Rs. 19 crores in 2020 and Rs. 16 crores in 2019. The spending as operational expenditure has also been increased in 2021 compared to the last two years.

How to Get Admission at NIT Goa

For UG courses at NIT Goa: Students who passed or appeared for the +2 exam can take Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and should get the minimum cut-off mark/rank required at this institution. Seats are allotted through JoSSA.

For PG courses: Students who have passed a bachelor’s degree or appeared for the final exam can take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and should get valid GATE scores to get admission to this institution. Admissions are given for all NITs PG programs through centralized counseling (CCMT) by MNIT Jaipur.
