National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala) initially started as Tripura Engineering College in 1965 in Agartala Tripura with basic three engineering departments, namely, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering in a view to developing engineers in the national and international standard to cater to the requirement of ever-growing the indian industry. It had been affiliated with the University of Calcutta until the inception of Tripura University. Later, it was affiliated with Tripura University. In 2006, it was elevated as the National Institute of Technology with a deemed university status and has become the Institute of National Importance.

Annual Festivals at NIT Agartala

MOKSHA is the annual socio-cultural fest of the NIT Agartala celebrated for 4 days in February, where many cultural events such as music, dance, solo instrument playing are organized. It’s the 2nd biggest fest of North-East having a footfall of nearly 10,000 per day. Besides this, UDAAN, the pre-MOKSHA festival is organized, where many extracurricular activities such as blindfolding, dancing, etc., are organized. It brings the spirit of the north-east culture while enjoying a splendid atmosphere.

AAYAM is the annual techno-management festival celebrated for three days in April where many technical events and paper and poster presentations take place. It facilitates fostering and co-existing with technology.
