Indian Institute of technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is one of the youngest second generation IITs established in 2008 located in Sangareddy district, west of Hyderabad, Telangana in an area of 576 acres.

Courses Offered at IIT Hyderabad

IIT Hyderabad offers 13 courses in undergraduate programmes, a considerable number of 17 courses in postgraduate programmes and just 4 courses in PG 3 year programmes, however, it does not offer any courses in dual degree programmes, but it offers 13 courses in PhD programmes in engineering science & technology.

IIT Hyderabad gave admission to 317 students at UG, 186 students at PG and 52 students at PG 3 year in 2021. In 2020, it admitted 285 students at UG, 181 students at PG and 41 students at PG 3 year. In 2019, it admitted 285 students at UG and 27 students at PG 3 year. The overall students’ strength in the year 2021 is 1576.
Faculty
IIT Hyderabad has distinguished professors in its faculty who have published many research papers in National and International Journals like Royal Chemical Society. It has 242 professors in its faculty of whom, 98.35% are PhD holders, the faculty-to-student ratio is 1:6, that is, one professor is available for every 6 students.

Capital Expenditure
In the year 2021, IIT Hyderabad spent Rs. 86 crores as a capital expenditure, of which 4.66% spent on procuring books, journals and e-resources for the library, significant amount of its funds, that is, 60.21% spent on buying new equipment and software for quality research, 0.22% spent on engineering workshop, and rest of the 34.91% fund spent on creation of capital assets and other expenditures. In 2020, the capital expenditure was Rs. 60 crores, and in 2019, it was around Rs. 34 crores.
Operational Expenditure
In 2021, IIT Hyderabad spent over Rs. 157 crores as an operational expenditure, of which 46.37% spent on paying salaries to professors and supporting staffs, a half of its funds, that is, 52.18% spent on maintaining academic infrastructures, and 1.45% spent on conducting Seminars, Conferences and Workshops. Spending as an operational expenditure in 2020 was Rs. 142 Crores, and it was Rs. 126 crores in 2019. So, spending as an operational expenditure has been increased in 2021 when compared with the last two years.

IIT Hyderabad Research Details

Since IIT Hyderabad has a good facility and good infrastructures, it is extensively researched in engineering science & technology. Therefore, it filed 25 patent applications in 2021 and got 5 patents, filed 23 patent applications in 2020 and got 1 patent, and filed 20 patent applications in 2019 and got 3 patents.
Sponsored Projects
IIT Hyderabad has many distinguished professors and research scholars in its faculty, it has published many research papers in prestigious Journals, so, many big companies are willing to sponsor IIT Hyderabad, and therefore, it received Rs. 52 cores through the 102 sponsored research projects from 42 companies in the year 2021. In 2020 and 2019, it received Rs. 54 and Rs. 37 crores through 113 and 107 sponsored research projects from 32 and 30 companies, respectively.
Consultancy Projects
IIT Hyderabad received Rs. 5 crores through 115 consultancy projects from 71 companies in 2021, and it received Rs. 5 and Rs. 4 crores through 133 and 66 consultancy projects from 74 and 47 companies in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

UG Graduations & Placements
As the quality of teaching and infrastructures in IIT Hyderabad is good, the graduation outcome is also good, because of these, 242 students who were admitted to UG degree courses, of whom 90.5% were awarded graduations and 82.29% got placements at top companies and 44 students were selected for higher studies in 2021, 94.08% students were awarded graduations, of whom 82.12% got placements and 40 were selected for higher studies in 2020, and 94.23% student were awarded graduations, of whom 83.94% got placements in and 59 were selected for higher studies 2019.
PG 3 Year Graduations & Placements
At PG 3 year programme in 2021, 74.07% students were awarded graduations, of whom 88.23% got placements and 3 were selected for higher studies, 76.47% were awarded graduations, of whom 76.92% got placements, however, none were selected for higher studies in 2020, and 92.1% were awarded graduations, of whom 68.75% got placements and 3 were selected for higher studies in 2019.

At PG programme in 2021, 81.76% students were awarded graduations, of whom 70.45% got placements and 16 were selected for higher studies; 76.4% were awarded graduations, of whom 84.44% got placements and 33 were selected for higher studies in 2020; and 76.78% were awarded graduations, of whom 60.5% got placements and 10 were selected for higher studies in 2019.
PhD Research Programmes
In the PhD research programme, IIT Hyderabad admitted 617 students to research, of whom 52 were awarded graduations in 2021, 38 and 28 students were awarded graduations in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Median Salary of UG Graduation: UG graduates got Rs. 17 LPA in 2021, Rs. 12 LPA in 2020 and Rs. 10.3 LPA in 2019 at top companies.

Median Salary of PG Graduation: Rs. 15.7 LPA in 2021, Rs. 10.7 LPA in 2020, and Rs. 10 LPA in 2019.

Median Salary of PG 3 year Graduation: PG 3 year graduates got Rs. 23.7 LPA in 2021, Rs. 13.6 LPA in 2020 and Rs. 12 LPA in 2019.

As IIT Hyderabad is on the outskirts of Hyderabad, it is well connected to all parts of India and the world. Both Secunderabad and Hyderabad railway stations are over 50 kms away from IIT Hyderabad, but we can commute to this institution by local bus or train. How to Get Admission at IIT Hyderabad

Studying science and technology is the dream of most students, however, to make that dream real, we need a good institution. When we think about a good institution, IITs come first. So, here are the procedures to get admission at IIT Hyderabad:

For UG courses at IIT Hyderabad: Students who passed or appeared for the +2 exam can take Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and should pass the minimum cut-off mark set by JEE in JEE advanced exam.

For PG courses: Students who passed a bachelor’s degree or appeared for the final exam can take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) and should pass GATE to get admission to IIT Hyderabad.
