Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (Indian School of Mines) IIT (ISM) Dhanbad was established in 1926 by Lord Irwin then Viceroy of India in the center of the coal belt, Dhanbad, in an area of 393 acres full of greens to address the need for trained manpower for mining activities in India.
