Government Engineering College, Thrissur (GECT), formerly known as Government Engineering College Trichur, was established in 1957 as a public institution in Ramavarmapuram Thrissur Kerala in an area of over 75 acres in a serene sylvan atmosphere to provide quality education in engineering and technology, nurture a passion for research, and create the professional for the well-being of society and the nation. It is the second-oldest engineering institution in Kerala affiliated with the University of Calicut and whose courses are approved by the AICTE, and whose programs are accredited by the NBA.

Campus Festivals at GEC Thrissur

GECT celebrates the DYUTHI as the national level techno-cultural management fest for 3 days where a plethora of pleasant cultural events like Footloose – music events, Enigma – battle of bands event, and Roadies – adventure event are organized to exhilarate energetic students, along with workshops on various topics which give a broad and in-depth knowledge in engineering science and technology. YUKTHI is the annual exhibition, technical events, project expo, and informal events where a gamut of technical events and a spectrum of colorful informal events like Project Expo, Paper Presentation Competitions, Line Follower, Robowar, etc., are organized for two days in August on the campus to induce the interest of the students in engineering and technology and make them well-versed in these fields, and cultural events make them creative and give them recreation and rejuvenate after spending a long time in studies. How to Get Admission at GEC Thrissur

For UG courses at GECT: Candidates who passed the +2 exam or any other equivalent exam in PCM subjects with at least 50% in Mathematics alone and at least 50% marks in PCM combined need to take the KEAM entrance exam conducted by CEE, and admissions are given based on the merit in both the entrance exam (50% weightage) and qualifying exam in PCM subjects (50% weightage).

For PG courses: The candidates who passed the UG degree in the respective stream from the AICTE- and UGC-approved institutions with 60% marks with the valid-GATE scores/ranks are eligible for admission to PG courses. However, if sufficient GATE-qualified candidates are not available, then seats are given based on the marks in the qualifying exams up to six semesters.
